Summary: The Development Associate is an administrative role within the Development Department, focused on delivering high-quality service to members and donors while supporting efficient fundraising operations. This position is responsible for processing donations and membership payments, including batching and deposits, reconciliation, reporting, and accurate entry into the donor database (Raiser’s Edge).

The role supports timely and accurate acknowledgment of gifts and memberships, and coordination of online and offline payment portals. The Development Associate plays a key role in maintaining data integrity and ensuring a positive donor and member experience through responsive service and attention to detail. In addition, this position supports development events, donor and member stewardship initiatives, and other core development activities, contributing to the overall effectiveness of the department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Development Department Administration (90%)

  • Process donations, memberships, and acknowledgment letters, along with other correspondence needed, such as tribute or memorial notes.
  • Update acknowledgment letters quarterly and before each event.
  • Assists with donor and event data entry and processing in the appropriate systems.
  • Assist with special giving campaigns (GiveNOLADay, year-end appeals), fundraising event ticketing, and calendar management for the Development department.
  • Assist with meeting logistics and calendar management for the Development department.
  • Manage confidential, computerized records of financial and in-kind donors, prospects, their giving histories, and other personal information.
  • Supports office supply management, departmental invoice processing, and fundraising and membership event support.
  • Pursues continuing education and growth in proficiency with Raiser’s Edge Database and CRM systems and in donor relations best practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the department and organization.

On-Site Coordination (10%)

  • Participate in fundraising and cultivation outreach, projects, and events.
  • Support on-site registration at event check-in tables
  • Attend fundraising events, approximately 6 times per year,some nights and weekends required.

Required skills/competencies needed to perform this job successfully: 

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as the ability to interact professionally, courteously, and effectively with internal and external groups.
  • Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple demands and multiple projects; establish priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver excellent customer service.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment, maintain confidentiality, Integrity, and discretion in the performance of all duties.
  • Proficiency with Raiser's Edge or a comparable CRM platform required; familiarity with online event and fundraising platforms preferred.

Education and/or Experience:

High School diploma or GED, and a minimum of two years of experience providing office or administrative support.
