The Material Handler is responsible for the efficient movement and continuous supply of materials to production and grading teams, ensuring a constant workflow and eliminating operational downtime. This role involves unloading trucks, stocking and organizing warehouse racking, performing inventory scans, digitally closing out processed inventory, and maintaining a clean, safe, and organized warehouse and production environment.
Responsibilities
Receiving and Unloading:
Unload trucks and containers by hand or by using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment.
Production Support:
Proactively stock all production and grading lines with necessary inventory to ensure continuous workflow without interruptions.
Safely prep incoming items, including cutting open products at grading stations.
Remove finished products from production areas and place them in stocking carts.
Inventory Stocking and Management:
Conduct physical inventory location scans and system updates using a smartphone and scanner to ensure 100% accuracy.
Digitally close out processed pallets from the BuyWander system once they have been fully processed.
Organize warehouse shelves and condense items to create space for incoming products.
Stock all newly finished products in appropriate warehouse locations.
Pull Waves:
Find and remove stagnant items from warehouse shelves according to pull wave lists.
Reprocess pulled items according to their condition.
Equipment Operation:
Operate pallet jacks, stocking carts, and other warehouse equipment safely and efficiently.
Follow all established safety procedures, especially when using safety knives and handling heavy materials.
Forklift operation experience is desirable but not required.
Warehouse Maintenance:
Maintain a clean and organized warehouse environment in accordance with company safety standards.
Continuously remove debris, trash, cardboard, and recycling as they accumulate at workstations.
Requirements
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous experience in a warehouse environment is preferred but not required.
Forklift certification is a plus.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Ability to operate a smartphone and Bluetooth scanner.
Ability to follow instructions, work independently, and communicate effectively with supervisors and team members.
Physical Requirements
This role involves sustained physical activity throughout the shift. The following are bona fide requirements of the position:
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 50 pounds repeatedly throughout the day.
Ability to bend, stoop, and reach overhead frequently.
Ability to work at a fast pace in a goal-driven environment.
Position requires seeing, hearing, use of hands and fingers, sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, squatting and stooping in the performance of daily activities.
Must be able to communicate with others including talking, hearing, and listening and exchanging communication.
