Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Collects and receives samples for testing into the laboratory, verifies proper patient preparation sample collection, and sample transport requirements. Ensures Standard Precautions and personal protective equipment are utilized for collecting and processing of all types of specimens.
Demonstrates good verbal, non-verbal, written, and electronic communication skills. Responsible for effective communications between the laboratory, clinical services and physicians.
Leads quality, lean and process improvement activities.
Clerical assistance for billing, troubleshooting, data gathering, and verification of lab orders and labels.
Reviews and utilizes all necessary computer systems and documentation for accuracy and an efficiently solves problems for assigned section.
Performs other duties as assigned
Complies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.
Required Minimum Education:
Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):
All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.
ASCP, AMT, NHA, NCCT, ABB, NPA within 6 months of hire within 180 Days Required
Specific Phlebotomy certs: PBT (ASCP), RPT (AMT), CPT (NHA), NCPT (NCCT), CPT-PBT (ABB), CPT (NPA)
within 180 Days Required
Required Minimum Experience:
Minimum 3 years of experience in any laboratory field Required
Required Minimum Skills:
Must have knowledge of laboratory and hospital regulations
Ability to prioritize tasks and make immediate decisions and laboratory technical skills for pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical tasks
Able to work and provide leadership for assigned areas and communicate effectively
